A word from Sy’s Fund Co-Founder Joanne Wilson on the creation of Sy’s Fund:
“Over a relatively short period of time I watched Lorraine’s heart break as she helped to care for her beautiful son while his health declined. He fought his nemesis (Cancer) every step of the way, he fought it with humor, he fought it with love, and he fought it with
every bit of life he had, but he lost. In the aftermath of this loss, my friend Lorraine was left devastated, and she needed to find a way to divert that anger and pain into something positive in Sy’s memory. When she decided to create this amazing fund, to help other young adults that were battling the same enemy as Silas, I knew I needed to be part of it. I am so proud of all the hard work that Lorraine and many others have done to keep this dream alive. Lorraine is the heart of Sy’s Fund and you all are its life force, everyone who gives or receives from this fund keeps it alive. Thank you all so much.”
Joanne’s friendship and dedicated hard work so generously helped Sy’s Fund become a reality before her move from Western Massachusetts to Pennsylvania in 2012.
